Paulette Pearson (Dallas, TX) brings Austen’s world to life through exquisitely precise colored-pencil drawings, using delicate linework and a restrained palette to transform small details into visual storytelling. In Flirting the Fan, a woman’s fan becomes a language of its own, capturing Regency women’s ability to wield desire within the boundaries of social decorum. Paulette’s meticulous rendering—from the soft blossoms and fluttering butterflies to the intricate fan—creates an atmosphere of elegance and intimacy, while a single coded gesture reveals a world of unspoken communication.
