In The Measure of a Woman, husband-and-wife duo Mariel Hannah and Abe Buller (Halifax, VA) transform Darcy’s exacting standards into a meditation on femininity, labor, and the illusion of perfection. A model stands behind an intricate lacework of embroidered netting, its delicate beauty concealing the countless hours of work woven into every thread. Through photography and custom design, the artists question how women are measured and invite us to look beyond grace, beauty, and accomplishment toward the person beneath.
