Join Lit Society for an immersive literary dinner exploring the enduring power of Greek mythology.
Hosted at Empire Diner and guided by novelist, educator, and Editor-in-Chief of The Commonwell Journal K Hank Jost, we'll explore a series of mythology-inspired themes through readings, conversation, reflection, and creative writing. Together, we'll examine how ancient stories continue to illuminate modern questions about identity, longing, transformation, courage, fate, and belonging.
Throughout the evening, Hank will provide literary context, guide discussion, and lead a series of creative writing exercises inspired by mythology's most enduring themes and characters. Drawing on his experience as both a novelist and educator, he'll help guests explore not only why these stories have survived for thousands of years, but how they can inspire new stories of our own.
Rather than simply discussing mythology, participants will actively engage with it, using stories thousands of years old as inspiration for new ideas, fresh perspectives, and original writing.
Think of it as part writing salon, part creative workshop, part dinner party, and part exploration of the stories that continue to shape who we are.
