In Games, French-born, Brooklyn-based artist Fanny Allié turns discarded textiles into an abstracted vision of social maneuvering. Entangled figures emerge among fragments that evoke the pieces of an imaginary game, recalling the charged encounter between Elizabeth and Wickham. Layered fabrics, looping threads, and overlapping forms create tension and movement, suggesting a world where attraction and conversation are governed by rules that are felt as much as seen.

What inspires the artist?
“My practice is deeply rooted in the everyday—gestures, routines, and traces left behind, re-imagining them through a socially engaged lens. Austen invites us to look at the gap between what it seems like and what it actually is—the hidden power dynamics and prejudices of a society and its characters.”
