Sure, everyone wants to be the hero, but it takes a special kind of person to pull off the trusty sidekick. This Halloween, step up your costume game by going as our favorite supporting characters. They deserve some love too!

Pride & Prejudice’s Charlotte Lucas & Mr. Collins.

While everyone else at the party is dressed as Elizabeth and Darcy, you’ll be the belle of the ball as Charlotte and Mr. Collins. Extra points if you bring a plate of boiled potatoes!

The Great Gatsby’s Jordan Baker

Daisy who? Jordan Baker is smart, athletic, and her only character flaw is dating Nick Carraway! A Jordan Baker costume gives you all that flapper goodness, without mowing down your husband’s mistress in your car. Plus a golf club makes a killer prop.

Little Women’s Beth March

For a character whose death emotionally wrecked an entire generation, Beth gets surpirsingly little recognition. This is a perfect costume for piano players or those with a skill for sickly-looking makeup!

Lord of the Rings’ Merry and Pippin

They cause chaos wherever they go and are obsessed with eating, but Merry and Pippin survived an Orc attack, rallied the Ents, and provided much-needed comic relief! Just don’t forget to include second breakfast and elevenses in your costume!

Alice Through the Looking Glass’ Tweedledee and Tweedledum

All you need are super-high pants, a collared shirt, and a baseball cap to pull off this look perfect for duos who do everything together. These quirky brothers are two of the most memorable of the the many wacky characters Alice encounters on her adventures, and the story wouldn’t be the same without them!

Harry Potter’s Dobby

“Dobby has no master, Dobby is a free elf!” This Halloween, give one of the best characters in the entire Harry Potter series some love with a dirty bedsheet, a pair of fake ears, and a sock for good measure. No wand needed!

The Help’s Minny

Tough on the outside, soft and caring on the inside, Minny Jackson has one of the best arcs in The Help, and is responsible for the legendary pie scene. The iconic pie makes a great prop too, although we recommend some slight variations to Minny’s original recipe.
